LONDON FASHION WEEK AW18 NEW DESIGNERS: AMY THOMPSON

22.2.18

I must say that this collection was probably my favourite for this season not only because of it's dreamy concept but also because this is an upcoming brand that is yet to at the for front... (I hope!)

Amy Thompson's Chasing Dreams, devours in childlike conceptual aspirations, such as the
imagination of become a Princess, Baker or a Hairdresser. These ideas are exploring with what would a child aspire to be as grown up in their own visions. Exploring the mind of a child, meant exploring the many fantasied ideals and imaginations that a child would have rather than the realities of what an ambition really looks like.

I really like this concept as its exploring the innocence of a child's mind knowing that child has no idea of what the real would is like, they only see fairy dusts, glitter and everything up in the clouds.

It's all about unrealistic fantasies on what it would be like to grow up. It's also nice to have concepts like this, as it's my way of escapism which is the dark and depressing real world.
Being a child you weren't open to the harsh realities and therefore all you really could do was rely on was the amazing fantasies of the imaginative visions of grown ups as Gods and that being fully grown human was nothing but freedom....the freedom with no responsibilities....unfortunately that doesn't exist.

The different varieties of pinks such as the fuchsias and baby pinks, really captures the true innocence of the collection with the other combinations of soft colours such as, lilac and the denim blues. The illustrated appliques, gives it a fun loving kid-like atmosphere to the garments, making the concepts quite obvious.

The headpieces are from Sassy Freak which is no doubt my one of my favorite head-wear designs right now as I love the idea of wearing unicorns, ponies and dolls as fashion statement. I indeed do own a unicorn/pony head-crown.

Overall the shiny, silky fabrics are to crave for and this collection is definitely an a wearable dream. This collection defies dreamscape.....(much like me!)
